Seth Rogen speaks out against Israel

Seth Rogen opens up about his views on Israel in an extensive podcast interview.

Canadian-US actor Seth Rogen has opened up about his Jewish identity and his views on Israel in an extensive podcast interview.

During an episode of Marc Maron’s popular podcast, comedic Jewish star Rogen said that he was "fed a huge amount of lies about Israel," questioning the rationale behind the existence of Israel.

The 38-year-old actor, who attended Jewish schools and camps growing up in Vancouver, also mentioned that Israel is proven to be ridiculous, antiquated and based on lies but he is afraid to discuss the topic with other Jews as he is worried about a backlash.

Further in the talk, he also referred to how young Jews are misled about the origins of modern Israel and how it was created with displacing thousands of Palestinians.

Quoting Rogen, the Guardian wrote that, “More than 700,000 Palestinians were driven out of their homes or fled fighting in the 1948 war that led to Israel’s creation. Today, those families and their descendants make up around 5.6 million refugees.”

Rogen was on the show to promote his new movie ‘An American Pickle’ when he took his chance to suggest that many of the beliefs that American Jews hold for the importance of Israel are misguided.

The debate was followed by an online firestorm. Many high-profile figures, often Jewish, shared highly critical views of Israel in their social media pages.
